The Ambassador of Good Will of UNESCO, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis attended the official opening of the 10th Athens Democracy Forum on Wednesday September 2022 at Zappeion Megaro.
Her Excellency, the President of Democracy, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, has opened the Forum with her speech and underlined the value of Democracy at all its aspects: “Democracy as a self-evident and universal mode of existence, gathering the private with the public and the social with the political is invited to find again itself. To be re-connected with its founding momentum keeping the rich and valuable for us its established identity”.
Right after that, an interesting live discussion took place with issue “Dialogue of Aristotle with Confucius” between the former General Secretary of UN, Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the top Economist, Professor Jeffrey Sachs. The discussion between them has been coordinated from the journalist of New York Time, Mr. Robert Cohen while the host and organizer of this event, is the President and Founder of Democracy and Culture Foundation, Mr. Achilleas Tsaltas.
Mrs. Vardinoyannis, had the opportunity into the frame of this event, to discuss with Mr. Ban Ki-moon and the Professor, Jeffrey Sachs with whom is connected with lifelong bonds of friendship and cooperation.
She had specifically cooperated with Mr. Ban Ki-Moon during the celebration of the 70 years of UNESCO on 2015 while, during his visit in our country on 2016 she had a private discussion with main issue the refugee crisis.
On 2009, the wife of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, had also visited the Guesthouse of “ELPIDA” supporting the battle against the Children cancer in our country.
On the other side, he was with Professor, Jeffrey Sachs, members of the Board of Directors of Glob Humanitarian Forum, with seat at Zurich, fighting for the human face of climatic change and the Climatic Justice while the Chairman was the former, General Secretary of UN, Mr. Kofi Annan.
