Three magic days full of game, music, dance, sports and creative laboratories enjoyed the little patients of the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA” during the 5th ELPIDA Summer Festival organized by the Association “ELPIDA- Association of Friends of Children with cancer” and specifically from the Association’s Social Services under the auspice of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports from June 17th until 19th 2025 at Hospital’s court yard.
Great Greek Athletes have supported the 5th Summer Festival
The Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports, Mr. Yianis Broutsis visited on Thursday June 19th 2025 the Oncologic Children’s Hospital together with top Greek athletes, Olympic Champions and Champions, to offer to the children the experience of Sports and give me, the confidence, courage and strength which they need so much.
Mr. Vourtsis was welcomed from the President of the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Mariana V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA”, Mr. Manolis Papasavvas and the Vice-President of the Association “ELPIDA- Association of Friends of Children with cancer”, Mrs. Nouli Manoli and the Association’s B.D. members , Athanasia Marinaki, Viky Filippou and Dora Dimopoulou as well as the Scientific Director of the Association ORAMA ELPIDAS, Mr. Stelios Grafakos and the person in charge of the Psycho-Social Service of ELPIDA Guest House, Mr. Dimitrios Nanis. The Directress of the Guest House of ELPIDA, Mrs. Anna Panagopoulou was also present during the three days of Festival.
“Warm congratulations to Mrs. Christianna V. Vardinoyannis who continues the remarkable work of the memorable, Marianna V. Vardinoyannis. A work that left an indelible mark of life. It makes us proud and I would like to assure you that, we will stand next to these children with all our strength” Mr. Vourtsis stated.
The children had the opportunity to be introduced at the special work-shops of Sports Education prepared by the person in charge of the program, Dimitrios Vikelas of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Ilena Klokoni with an experiential approach in sports as boxing, rhythmic, handball, Softball and acrobatic treadmills under the guidance of well known athletes.
Unique melodies were spread all around the Hospital
Within the frame of the 5th Summer Festival, the Oncologic Children’s Hospital was overflown from music and melodies from the beloved artists who, with a great sensitivity and love stand next to the children. The top Greek musician, Evanthia Reboutsika with her unique compositions and violin, has opened her hug and offered to the children unique moments with her special performance and Anastasia and Panos Vlachos who gave to the children joyful moments. At the same time, the Band and Chorus of Ermionida Municipality, the Odium of the Athens College and the New Artists of Katia Paschou Project offered to the children the opportunity to come in contact with the music lighting up their faces with smile.
The most beloved game shows for the children of ELPIDA
The most beloved game shows of the Greek TV were played at the Oncologic Hospital for the 5th Summer Festival exclusively. Petros Polychrinidis with the “Wheel of Fortune” and Thanos Kiousis with 5X5, “showed up” at the Oncologic Hospital to offer a unique experience to the littlie patients.
The beloved films of Disney for the children of ELPIDA
During the three days of the Summer Festival, the little heroes of ELPIDA had the opportunity to attend the Disney beloved films at the especially fitted out space of the Hospital’s Amphitheater and specifically “Lilo & Stitch”, “Snow-white” and the brand new film “ELIO” at first showing.
Program full from original actions
The children had at the meantime the opportunity to participate in original visual and artistic actions of the Greek Children’s Museum, Museum of Alekos Fasianos and Georgios Zongopoulos Foundation, to make constructions and handcrafts with the Art Therapist and Painter, Christina Fytili, the Creative Work shop Crafts by Stavy, paint huts with Zina Glou, play the “game of impressions” with Eleni Tsaldiri and Vasiliki Sianti, come in contact with the magic world of book together with the author, Marina Gioti, to make sweets under the guidance of the pastry chef Dimitris Oikonomidis, to attend shadow play (karagiozis) from the company of shadow of Ilias Karellas, and unique acrobatics from the team Lilal and Dance Aerial Acrobatics, to come in contact with the unique world of bees with APIVITA workshops, to cooperate via initiative actions with the Logo therapist, Evgenia Lafioti and MGM Sports and unique train tours with the “Smal Train of ElPIDA” which was making tours at the Hospital areas!
ATTIKO Park and Planetarium were also and this year next to the Association offering unique experiences to the children.
