The President of the Association, Mrs. Christianna V. Vardinoyannis, has hosted on Tuesday, May 6th 2025, a Spring Dinner for the presentation of the collectible bag especially designed for “ELPIDA” by the International famous designer, Mary Katrantzou at the GB Roof Garden of the Hotel “Grand Bretagne” which has opened its doors for the first time for this private event.
Mrs. Vardinoyannis and Katrantzou together with the members of the Board of Directors Association, have welcomed the members and friends of “ELPIDA” in one of the most iconic spaces of the Athens Capital with view to Akropolis and presented the unique creation arisen from the cooperation between them.
The bag’s design was born through a creative dialogue between the designer and Mrs. Vardinoyannis and incorporates heliotropes, the beloved flowers of ELPIDA founder, Marianna V. Vardinoyannis. With its characteristic nostalgic charm and its detailed shades, the print is reflected in a collectible bag, designed to support the children with cancer and their families as all earnings from its purchase will be disposed for the Association’s purposes.
This exceptional creation has been warmly welcomed by all the present ladies who purchased it in support of the important work of the Association which for 35 years now is standing next to the children with cancer and their families while, the presence of the aggregate Committee of “ELPIDA YOUTH” with head Mrs. Mariana Lemos, gave a special tone at the event and the presence as well of the well known actress and Director, Nia Vardalos. The Dinner was surrounded with the melodies of Duo Violins to whom was given a loud applause.
This initiative continues the long lasting cooperation of Mary Katrantzou with the Association “ELPIDA” which has started with the show with international appeal at Poseidon Temple in Sounio on October 2019 with cause the 30 years term from the establishment of the Association “ELPIDA” – a tribute to the battle for life, hope, strength of collectivity and social solidarity.
This collectible tote bag sold in two sizes and restricted number of pieces is disposed via the eshop of Association (htpps://eshop.elpida.org/) while, after May 16th will be found in selected shops and specifically: Enny Monaco, Department stores Attica, GB Corner, Salt Water Four Seasons Astir Palace, Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino and Hydra Concept Store.
It should be noted that, the bag has been manufactured with ethical practices and sustainable materials promoting thus the re-using, the reduction of plastic use and the strengthening of female entrepreneurship. Its production has been materialized in cooperation with the Company “Bags of Ethics” with which, the designer has been cooperated in the past as member of British Fashion Council for the anniversary collection NEWGEN30.
