The new ultramodern Lighting System CoeLux which creates the sense of natural light targeting to the improvement of the fragile psychology of the children with cancer, commenced its operation from the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis and the President of the Association “ELPIDA- Association of Friends of Children with cancer”, Mrs. Christianna V. Vardinoyannis.
The purchase and establishment of this specific system which is established for the first time in our country, has been materialized with the kind donation of the companies: Trafigura Maritime Ventures LTD, Chartworld Shipping Corporation, Goldenport Group, Prominence Maritime, Seanergy & United Maritime and Trafigura Foundation.
The President of the Association “ELPIDA” Mrs. Christiana V. Vardinoyannis and the members of the Association’s B.D. have jointly welcomed the President of the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis”, Mr. Georgiadis and the representatives of the Shipping Companies: Mrs. Faye Fragedi and Mr. Fotis Karagiannopoulos (Trafigura Maritime Ventures LTD), Mr. Yiannis Dragnis and Mrs. Laura Lalaouni-Dragni (Goldenport Group), Mrs. Anastasia Kollaki (Chartworld Shipping Corporation), Mrs. Ioanna Prokopiou and Mrs. Evgenia Arvaniti (Prominence Maritime) and Mrs. Athina Pteroudi (Seanergy & United Maritime).
All of them made a tour all around the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Oncologic Children’s Hospital where it was established the ultramodern lighting system and they were in details informed for the way of its operation. The establishment of this specific system creates the sense of natural light at the underground spaces of the said department. It is an innovative system which is for the first time established in our country and it should be pointed out that, this specific system is also established in great foreign hospitals having as target the improvement of the fragile psychology of the little patients who must, at this tender age, to be subject to PET/CT tests and therapies with iodine. The sense of the natural light and the natural weather phenomenon being secured via this system, will positively contribute at the psychology and mood of our little patients before and during of such kind of examinations and therapies.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis has pointed out the importance of this project: “The project of which I had the honor to commence its operation was overwhelming, because it is very important for the children who must stay for hours or for days in an underground place to be deprived from the sun. It has been scientifically proved that, psychology is very important for the healing of cancer. It is not therefore an upgrading of esthetic nature but it is a part of the therapy. I would like to thank and congratulate “ELPIDA” and the donors companies because we have actually made today a step forward for the health of our country”.
Mr. Georgiadis has also especially referred to the high level of medical care that the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Mariana V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA” offers and the contribution of the unforgettable Marianna V. Vardinoyannis to the change of the image of social solidarity in our country: “Mariana V. Vardinoyannis was an irreplaceable angel. She was the motive power of an Orama that has not only changed the life of some people but Greece as well, because Greece should have been completely different without this Hospital which is just as good as the best foreign hospitals. And this is a tremendous offer, a miracle”.
Mrs. Christianna V. Vardinoyannis has also expressed her warm thanks to the shipping companies for their kind donation and spoke about the importance of the establishment of the new lighting system: “ With the establishment of the ultramodern of international specifications lighting system CoeLux which is established for the first time in a hospital of our country we have achieved, thanks to your generosity, to reform those rooms in bright spaces improving in this way the children’s psychology and taking away the sense of fear. I am very proud and touched because with your own support, “ELPIDA” is once again a pioneer and our Hospital worthily stands among the best Oncologic Children’s Hospitals of the world. My mother’s and founder of “ELPIDA” Orama remains more alive than ever”.
The President of the Children’s Oncologic Hospital “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA”, Mr. Emmanouil Papasavvas has expressed his sincere thanks to the donor companies and spoke for the importance of improvement of the children’s psychology and that of the medical and nursing personnel as well: “Studies have shown that, the sense of natural light in closed areas, is positively affecting both the psychology of the personnel working in them by improving their daily work and the psychology of patients and especially the fragile psychology of our little patients because the sense of natural light has a positive effect to their mood during the tests or therapy to which are subject”.
