UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna V. Vardinoyannis attended the official dinner hosted by the President of the Republic Mr Prokopis Pavlopoulos in honour of President of China Mr. Xi Jinping and his wife, at the Presidential Mansion, on Monday, 11 November 2019.
Mrs Vardinoyannis had an extensive conversation with Mr Xi Jinping, informing him in detail about the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – Elpida” Children’s Oncology Unit and the Children’s Hospital of Beijing, an agreement laying the foundations for cooperation between Greece and China in the treatment of childhood cancer.
Mrs Vardinoyannis also had the chance to talk with the wife of the Chinese President, Mrs Peng Liyuan. The two women work together for UNESCO, as they are both UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors.
