“ELPIDA- Association of Friends of Children with cancer” has offered smiles, strength and optimism at the children who are hospitalized at the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA” having as cause the World Day of Children’s Cancer on Sunday, February 15th 2026.
The especially designed actions have taken place with the initiative of the Association’s President, Mrs. Christianna V. Vardinoyannis, having as target the strengthening of the little fighters of life and send a strong message against the Children’s cancer.
Having at their side, the legendary Basketball players, Thodoris Papaloukas and Dimitris Diamantidis, the kindergarten of the Oncologic Hospital was converted to a Basketball ground where the children had the opportunity to play with the athletes and participate at creative sports actions under the guidance of experienced physiotherapists. The basketball freestyler Dude K has monopolized the interest and caused the enthusiasm of kids and adults with his impressive tricks with the ball.
A few days earlier and on the night of Thursday, February 12th , the children who are hospitalized at the Oncologic Children’s Hospital “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA”, had the opportunity to share a magic experience as the sky over the hospital was converted to a bright spectacle! Hundreds of drones have created with pictures on the sky an emotional story of strength and hope under the guidance of the Director, Giorgos Nanouris while the story teller was the actress, Maria Kitsou.
