Smiles of joy lit up the faces of the young patients of the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis -ELPIDA Children’s Oncology Unit” and of the ELPIDA Guesthouse thanks to a visit by three former Survivor players James Kafetzis, Anna Maria Velli and Nikos Bartzis, on Thursday, 3 June 2021.
The three former players that took part in the popular show visited the Children’s Oncology Unit and were welcomed there by the Vice President of the “ELPIDA-Association of Friends of Children with Cancer,” Mrs. Marianna Goulandris-Laimos, together with the General Secretary of the Association, Mrs. Tzortzina Ellina and Mrs. Chrysi Vardinoyannis, member of the ELPIDA Youth Committee.
The Director of the “Agia Sofia” and “P.&A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospitals, Mr. Manolis Papasavvas, thanked the three players of the popular show for their kind gesture to visit the Oncology Unit thus brining hope to the young patients.
James, Anna-Maria and Nikos were informed in detail about ELPIDA’s work and contribution in the fight against childhood cancer, and they also visited the offices of the “ORAMA ELPIDAS” Association. There, they were briefed about voluntary bone marrow donation and volunteered as donors themselves, supporting the Association’s effort to increase the number of volunteer donors in the country.
After that, they visited the “Guesthouse” of ELPIDA, where they were given a tour by Social Worker Dimitris Nanis. Complying with all protective measures against the coronavirus, the three former Survivor players had the opportunity to talk with the young patients, giving them strength and courage.
James, Anna Maria and Nikos were moved by this visit and expressed their commitment to support the Association and the fight against childhood cancer in any way possible.
