The drivers of Formula 1 supported the “VISION OF HOPE ASSOCIATION” for yet another year, competing in the 27th charity football match between “Star Team for Children” and “Nazionale Piloti F1 Drivers,” which was held on Tuesday, 21 May 2019, on the occasion of the MONACO FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX 2019 at Louis II of Monaco field, in the presence of Prince Albert of Monaco and the President of the “ELPIDA” and “VISION OF HOPE” Associations, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis.
In recognition of her great work, the Formula 1 Drivers awarded Mrs. Vardinoyannis with an honorary plaque that was presented by the President of the “Nazionale Piloti F1 Drivers” team, Mario di Natale, pledging that, very soon, the Formula I Drivers will visit the Children’s Oncology Unit in order to support the children in their struggle.
This football match is one of the top events that takes place every year in the context of the MONACO FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX. It takes place between the Monegasque team “Star Team for Children” which is led by Prince Albert, with the participation of important representatives from the world of sports and the arts, and the “Nazionale Piloti F1 Drivers” team, which consists of world-famous Formula 1 drivers.
The leading
representatives of motorsports played for the “Nazionale Piloti F1 Drivers” team, wearing a uniform featuring the “VISION OF HOPE” Association logo.
Standing out among them were Ferrari
driver Charles Leclerc, the Red Bull Racing Team driver Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz JR, a McLaren driver, and the former driver for Ferrari and Williams, Felippe Massa. The son of the famous Michael Schumacher, Mick, a rising FORMULA 1 star, was also
on the team, as were numerous other top drivers.
Prince Albert’s team – “Star Team for Children” – won the match 3-2, but both teams received thunderous applause because they played an outstanding match, the proceeds of which will be donated to charitable causes.
Mr. Manolis Papasavvas, Director of “Agia Sofia” and “P&A Kyriakou” Children’s Hospitals was present at the important event,as was the representative for “Nazionale Piloti F1 Drivers,” our country’s Mr. Kostas Mastorakis.
