The “ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer” organised a one-of-a-kind Easter celebration for the children of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – ELPIDA” Children Oncology Unit on Tuesday, 23 April 2019, in the presence of the spouse of the President of the Republic, Mrs. Sissy Pavlopoulou and the President of “ELPIDA,” Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis
With great joy and enthusiasm, young and old alike dyed colourful Easter eggs, made unique candles, and painted ladybugs on pebbles, filling the Children’s Oncology Unit with the colours of Easter, as well as with love and hope.
“We welcome you to a unique Easter celebration dedicated to all children! Today we have with us an exceptional woman who always shows her love in practice and has you in her mind and in her heart, Mrs. Sissy Pavlopoulou. And I would like to sincerely thank her for her idea to keep us company so that we can celebrate love and hope together, and for all of us to become children again, together with you.” Mrs. Vardinoyannis stated at the commencement of the event.
Mrs. Pavlopoulou wished strength to the children who are being treated in the hospital at this time, telling them: “Difficulties will always exist. But man’s greatness is to always overcome them with God’s help, and with the help of his fellow man. This is, moreover, the meaning of volunteerism. For one to stand beside the other.” Subsequently, Mrs. Pavlopoulou gave every child a piece of canvas, inviting them to make their own art, which will then be displayed at the art exhibit that will be held in the Oncology Unit.
Mrs. Pavlopoulou was accompanied by her daughter Zoi and her granddaughters Vana, Melita, and Sissy, who participated in all the activities with great pleasure.
