The Parliament of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus has opened a huge hug for the children with a symbolic donation that, the President of the Parliament of Representatives, Mrs. Annita Dimitriou has handed over to the President of the Association “ELPIDA – Association of Friends of Children with cancer” Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis on Monday, October 11th 2021.
Mrs. Dimitriou being accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to our country, Mr. Kyriakos Kenevezos, visited the Children’s Oncologic Unit “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-EPLIDA” having been welcomed by Mrs. Vardinoyannis and the Administrator of the Children’s Hospital “H Aghia Sofia” and “P.&A. Kyriakou, Mr. Manolis Papasavvas.
“I would like to thank you from the depths of my heart for your presence here and your symbolic donation to our Association which expresses your high sensitivity and the kindness of her soul. Your support is exceptionally honorable for us and I am really touched from it because it shows once again the support of Cyprus which is standing all these years by our side. This support has been expressed in many ways both with our fraternizations and our cooperation with “ELPIDA” of Cyprus and Karaiskakeio Foundation and from the continuous, emotional and very warm support of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis and the First Lady, my very beloved friend, Antri Anastasiadi. Mrs. Anastasiadi is honoring us with her warm support standing to our and the children of “ELPIDA” side. She is a wonderful mother and grandmother who has devoted her life to the humanitarian and solidarity, she inspires us being an example for her beloved country and the whole world. She has visited many times this place and has opened her heart and hug for the children and parents of ELPIDA. Her sensitivity and devotion to values and ideas that connect through the years our people are the foundation of the cooperation and friendship we share, Mrs. Vardinoyannis said at the reception of Mrs. Dimitriou.
Mr. Papasavvas has from his part, presenting in details the work of the Oncologic Unit, giving emphasis to the huge contribution of “ELPIDA” to the treatment of the children’s cancer in our country.
Mrs. Vardinoyannis has awarded to Mrs. Dimitriou a memorial plaque thanking her for the considerable support of the People of Cyprus to the work of “ELPIDA” while they have thereafter symbolically placed the Star of the Parliament of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus to the “Wall of Stars of ELPIDA”.
Mrs. Dimitriou being attached has thanked for the great honor giving emphasis to how important is the work of “ELPIDA” and Mrs. Vardinoyannis personally: “This place is really surrounded by love and I have the feeling that, everything you are doing is offering hope. Mrs. Vardinoyannis is a human being that has offered a lot and she continuous to offer. In our effort to support this huge work we are making today this symbolic donation to stand on the children’s’ side. Because even a child is saved, then there is hope”.
