An enormous hug of love for our fellow mates who are suffering from the disastrous earthquake in Turkey, have opened the Association of Friends of the Children with cancer and “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”
Mrs. Vardinoyannis has communicated by phone with the Ambassador of Turkey in our country, Mr. Cagatay Erciyes expressing her deepest sorrow for the thousands of human lives that have been lost and the humanitarian tragedy that our neighbor country experiences and she assured him that, both the Association “ELPIDA” and the Foundation with the same name, will stand next to the side of the earthquake victims.
She also informed him that, the Children’s Oncology Unit “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA” is in complete readiness for the hospitality of Oncologic cases from Turkey.
“The tragedy that, our Turkish fellow mates experience has shocked all of us and it is our duty to stand in any way we can at their side. The humanity and solidarity do not have any boundaries and our assistance to this unspeakable pain is a minimum sign of humanity to people who are suffering hardship “ Mrs. Vardinoyannis said.
From Friday of February 17th 2023, with Mrs. Vardinoyannis initiative and in communication with the Turkish Consulate, have been sent 105 boxes with first need items for the earthquake victims such as sleeping bags, cloths for children and adults (gloves, scarf’s, fleece), linen (blankets, guilt’s, towels, pillows) and medical-pharmaceutical material.
The material collected is a donation of the Association of Friends of the Children with cancer and “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation” and of the spontaneous and generous offer of the members of the Association “ELPIDA”.
